Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, "I gave birth to him in pain."

Jabez cried out to the God of Israel,

That you would bless me.
Enlarge my territory!
Let your hand be with me.
Keep me from evil so that I will be free from pain.

And God granted his request.

Jabez asked God for four things to change his life in the Old Testament,    1 Chronicles 4:10 has been a favorite prayer said by many. Bruce Wilkerson has written books that are well received and written to spiritually inspire those faithfully reciting the verse.

I have said this prayer for over 30 years. I have no doubt that many of the blessings God has given me and His unending grace are a product of just asking.

5 years ago I was inspired to add/change the prayer. In my mind making it “modern day”. I have added a very important part to the prayer that was not available to man back in Jabez’s time. It is quite simply Jesus. So here is my version of the Jabez prayer with the induction of Jesus and letting God take the wheel.

Father that you would bless me according to your will.
Father through your son Jesus may I find favor with you.
Father that you would enlarge my coast according to your will.
Father that you would take this day and be with me, You lead I’ll follow. Father that you would protect me from the evil one.

By saying this prayer to start your day, strap yourself in because you will be flooded with God’s Love, mercy and grace, and those blessings just keep coming.
